Jamaica: Things To Do.

Welcome back! Today on the Traveler’s Guide we continue our journey through Jamaica, where I’ll be telling you about some of the things this beautiful Island has to offer. And to do that, I will also be sharing some personal experiences while there. So without any further ado, let’s get into it.
Hike Dunn Falls.

The Dunn Falls hike was by far my favorite adventure when I visited Jamaica. It is truly a unique experience. There are two ways to do this hike, there is a dry path and a wet path. I did the wet path with the rest of my family (well except my mom because some people didn’t get the message about not bringing their phones). It’s unique because you walk right up the waterfall, there are no handholds or anything, but you just stick to the rocks and follow the guides up. Throughout the entire hike, you’re wading through pools of warm water, enjoying nature, and quite possibly getting rained on. If you’re like me, however, you’re also trying to hide a smiley face of hickeys on your chest while hiking. I don’t recommend that. The entire time I was hiking I was trying to stick to the shadows and stay low in the water, luckily it was cloudy and they were mostly faded so it wasn’t too hard. But if you do find yourself in Jamaica, this is a must-do, it’s a fun experience that’s truly unique to Jamaica.
Ride the Jamaican Sky Explorer and Bobsled.
Jamaican Bobsled
I know I know, it’s not an actual bobsled, it’s a mountain rollercoaster. They call it a bobsled to attract tourists, and it works. But even though it’s a lie, it’s also a ton of fun. To start you first ride the Sky Explorer, which is a ski lift, that takes you to the top of the mountain. At the top, there are a number of things to do, like shopping, riding the bobsled, and even a waterslide. HOWEVER before you ride the waterslide, make sure it’s open… When I went, I didn’t do this. So we were having lunch, and the waterslide was right there. There weren’t any signs or anything to say that it was closed, and the slide was still running. So naturally I changed into my swimsuit and climbed to the top, which also wasn’t blocked off, and went down, only to find out the pool was being chemically treated.
Despite that small incident, and the worker I pissed off, the rest of the excursion was a lot of fun. The bobsled, despite not being a real bobsled, did not disappoint. If you’d like to do this tour it usually costs about $130 per person.
Sit On a Beach.

When you’re in the Caribbean, surrounded by crystal blue waters in the hot tropical sun, sometimes the best thing to do is just sit and relax. Luckily Jamaica has some very nice beaches to choose from. Plus the water is usually calm, and always just the perfect temperature. And to make it better, if you go to the right resort you can get Jamaican Jerk Chicken right there on the beach. Just be careful of the sea urchins, as my mom will tell you, they are not fun to step on.
