Mozambique: The Downsides

Mozambique. Credit: unknown

I’m going to keep today’s short since many of the problems you will face in Mozambique are practically the same problems you would face in most other places in the world. But I will give you a bit of relevant news.

New Protests.

Following the municipal elections on October 11th, 2023 the country has seen a number of protests and demonstrations in the city of Maputo City. While these have been peaceful it doesn’t take much for a peaceful protest to become a riot. As a tourist, it’s always a good idea to avoid crowds of angry people.

Simple Warnings

These warnings can be applied to anywhere in the world.

Avoid using public transport alone, especially if you’re female. It’s full of scams and there is a higher danger level to it, it’s smart to just avoid it when possible.

Use higher levels of caution due to high crime rates. Don’t walk down dark alleys, and avoid going out at night.

Know the number of your country’s Embassy and how to get to them, or know a place you can go where they can get to you if need be. This only applies in the most extreme situations.

In Conclusion

I think I’m going to change this section for something else. Most problems countries have overlap, and you guys don’t need to be told about them over and over again.
